JCAP EDUCATION WORKSHOPS 2019

For the past two years and a half, teachers and administrators from our Asia Pacific network of Jesuit schools have been gathering and learning together at our regional education workshops. Last year alone, a total of 104 participated in our three workshops, excluding the workshop offered exclusively to Japan in August and the International Education Conference held in Manila last October (see below for a full report).

We are happy to announce the line-up of education workshops for Asia Pacific network this year. As always, these three modules are offered under JCAP’s IGNITE (Ignatian Initiative for Teacher Excellence) program in cooperation with the Ateneo SALT Institute.

As always, those who need assistance for the registration fee, kindly email: jcapedusec@gmail.com

LEADERSHIP BY CONVERSATION Ends on an Exhilarating Note in Sydney

This year the Jesuit Conference Asia Pacific Education secretariat offered our educators in the region two brand new workshops. The workshop brought together a total of 26 participants from Hong Kong, Macau, the Philippines, and the biggest contingent from Indonesia. The new workshop focused on the ministry of Ignatian conversation and weds it with Growth Coaching, using such tools as the MBTI and best practices on feedback giving.

4th ISLF in Japan brings together 70 student leaders

“Our language and culture might be different, but what mattered most is the emotional connection we had in the ISLF. This allowed us to be more open to cross our borders” That was how Yohana Pegas Syane, a student leader from Gonzaga College (Jakarta) described the recently concluded 4th Ignatian Student Leadership Forum in Japan.

Facilitated by JCAP Education Secretary, Fr. Johnny Go, the workshop, aptly called “Leadership by Discernment,” dealt with Ignatian discernment, with the first three days focused on individual  discernment while the remaining time was spent on communal discernment. It was an experience customized for our colleagues in Japan, based on two IGNITE leadership workshops that have been offered the past years in Asia Pacific

A FRESH BATCH OF EDUCATORS FOR THE IGNATIAN TEACHER PROGRAM IN RIVERVIEW AUSTRALIA

This report is written by John Gilles of St. Ignatius, Riverview Australia, one of the lead facilitators of the recently held Ignatian Teacher Program (or ITP) in Sydney, Australia. It’s the third–and last–of the workshops offered by JCAP’s IGNITE (Ignatian Initiative for Teacher Excellence) this year.

The 2017 Ignatian Teacher Program, held last November 12 to 17,  was a meeting of hearts and minds.

Drawing together senior educators and administrators from the Asia Pacific region, delegates from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Philippines, China and Taiwan travelled to Sydney, Australia for two core purposes: First,  to encourage dialogue between significant educational trends, Ignatian Spirituality and Ignatian Pedagogy,; secondly, to contribute to the invigoration of Jesuit Education within the framework of the global network of Jesuit secondary educational institutions
